Your new career awaits
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)

The CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is a professional pilot licence that allows individuals to pursue a career as a commercial pilot and engage in various commercial aviation activities.

Obtaining a CPL requires a higher level of training, experience, and proficiency compared to recreational or private pilot licences. Aspiring pilots must meet specific requirements set by CASA, including a minimum age of 18, a valid Class 1 medical certificate, and a demonstrated level of English language proficiency. They must also accumulate a specified number of flight hours, complete advanced flight training, pass a number of theoretical examinations, a flight test, and meet the required aeronautical experience criteria.

The Wrighton Aviation CPL training curriculum focuses on advanced flight techniques, instrument flying, navigation, meteorology, aviation regulations, aircraft systems, aeronautical decision-making, and commercial flight operations. The training includes both theoretical classroom instruction and intensive practical flight training, enabling pilots to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to operate aircraft safely and efficiently in various commercial operations.

With a CPL, pilots gain expanded privileges and can pursue a range of professional opportunities in the aviation industry. They can fly aircraft for hire or reward, providing services such as charter flights, aerial photography, aerial surveying, flight instruction, and other commercial aviation activities. The CPL is an essential step for those aspiring to become airline pilots, as it forms the foundation for further training and progression to more advanced certifications, such as the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).

Commercial pilots with a CPL are trained to operate in diverse and challenging environments. They are equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in areas such as flight planning, aviation regulations, navigation, meteorology, aviation safety procedures, and emergency management. This comprehensive training ensures that CPL holders are prepared to handle various operational scenarios, make informed decisions, and prioritise safety in their professional flying careers.

To maintain the CPL, pilots must fulfill ongoing regulatory requirements, including regular flight reviews and medical assessments. Additionally, they are encouraged to pursue continuous professional development, staying updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices through training programs, seminars, and industry networking.

The CASA Commercial Pilot Licence represents a significant achievement in a pilot’s career journey, opening doors to a wide range of professional opportunities within the aviation industry. It signifies a high level of proficiency, responsibility, and commitment to safety, as commercial pilots play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of passengers and cargo.
