The CASA Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is a higher-level pilot licence that provides individuals with expanded privileges and capabilities compared to the Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL). The PPL allows pilots to fly a wider range of aircraft and engage in more advanced flying activities.
To obtain a PPL, pilots must meet certain requirements set by CASA. These requirements typically include a minimum age of 17, a valid Class 2 medical certificate, and a demonstrated level of English language proficiency. Additionally, applicants must complete the necessary flight training, accumulate a specified number of flight hours, and pass both a theory examination and a flight test.
The Wrighton Aviation PPL training curriculum builds upon the foundational knowledge and skills acquired during the RPL training. It covers a wide range of topics, including advanced aircraft handling, navigation techniques, meteorology, flight planning, radio communication, aviation regulations, emergency procedures, and human factors. The training combines both practical flight training and classroom-based theoretical instruction to provide a comprehensive understanding of aviation principles.
With a PPL, pilots have expanded privileges and capabilities. They can fly aircraft that exceed the weight limits of the RPL and can operate in more complex airspace environments, including controlled airspace. PPL holders can also complete additional training allowing them to fly at night and engage in instrument flight rules (IFR) flying, which involves navigating and operating an aircraft using more advanced instruments and procedures.
